Technology comes in many ways and in many forms that could help a society living become easier.

“EASIER”

The word easier always comes first in our mind when we are discussing about technology because it is true! Yes, technology makes our living easier. Those gadgets, electronic devices, and softwares. But there are also technologies that are invented that are used as a weapon to make their mission be accomplished easier.

How about a drone? A drone could fly high and is controlled by a human but it could also be programmed. What if the future of a drone will be a weapon that will kill somebody by using facial recognition. Data of every person could be seen through internet if you will just dig it deeper. By this, the drone could recognize the person and when programmed could kill a person in cold blood.

Yes, a drone is still quite big to be used a secret assassin something but it is still could be enhanced and make it smaller. This could be an innovation but chaotic.

The thing about innovation is it's mainly based on the person having it. If the person (for example, a powerful man i.e. president) has negative intents over technological innovations, then it's not surprising to see inventions that are chaotic and doesn't do anything moral.

Same rule applies vice versa. Thus, it mainly depends on the person's intent having the technology, whether it'd be helpful or destructive.

It could be possible, in fact, drone killers are already invented see here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slaughterbots.

With technological innovation, it should be accompanied by the innovation of regulation to strictly monitor these kind of technology mainly created to hard some one. But in terms of increasing military power of a certain nation, it is possible a good invention to reduce casualty in combat. eg. Terrorist attack or prevention.

A big question is whether we would have any kind of real defence against such drones when they come into use.

Even now you can see that some humanoid robots from Boston Dynamics are incredibly advanced compared to older models from even 10 years ago. Robots used for war/security/combat will be the largest threat to humans that we've ever faced if they are in the wrong hands.
